Shock as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.

A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation battling rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before running away.

The motive behind the attack has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, according to authorities.

The Fatal Incident

Law enforcement revealed that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a building near the city center landmark.

He had devoted time at the site supervising the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.

"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement confirmed.

CCTV footage showed a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what looked like a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before running away.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries across the street.

It was further revealed that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the attack.

Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were found at the crime scene.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.

"We know they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been tracking them to determine their location," remarked an authority figure.
