Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's 10-match winless beginning to the top-flight season.
And both candidates - both of who have historic links to the team - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.
Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.
Nevertheless the ex- Luton head coach - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a strong candidate for the position.
The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the Wolves directors as they start the search of hiring a new head coach.
O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by the club in the previous winter.
The former West Ham player is out of work which means the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
