A individual accused with harassing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has consistently claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court learned phone records and data recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is among the most widely reported child disappearance cases and continues to be open.

'I Don't Want Money'

A separate recorded message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I feel."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording said: "Suppose there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Is that not significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I maintain a existence here in Poland, I simply desire to understand," the recording stated.

The jury was informed that by means of emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a genetic test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

The investigator, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who compiled the evidence, advised the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also communicated with family friends of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On that date, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I will persist and I plan to establish my claim."

The court learned Mrs Spragg established a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' home in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be taken seriously in the time preceding the visit to Rothley, the county, in December 2024.

The court was told communications between the two accused, in that autumn, considering endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her garbage or from silverware at a eating establishment.

"We must make a stand," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the appearance to their home, the defendant sent a communication which expressed: "We are sitting near the McCanns' home with our vehicle dark similar to private investigators. I desired to do this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."

The trial proceeds.
